Human Design ReflectionsGate 55 | The Gate of Spirit

Recently, I’ve done a number of readings where Gate 55 (Gate of Spirit) has a prevalent placement in a person’s chart.  When I get a lot of back-to-back readings on a particular gate, it allows me the opportunity to really dive in on some of the nuances of that gate and the gifts, shadows, and wisdom that it encapsulates.

The energy behind Gate 55 is that when things are good, the well of happiness within you literally spills over into anyone you’re with.  People with this gate can sometimes feel as though when they are high on life and they just want to share it with the entire world.  We hear the adage over and over again that we should give from an overflowing cup - and that is the exact energy of Gate 55.

Somewhere along the way, I heard an analogy that resonated with me on this subject too.  When a woman is breastfeeding and she becomes slightly engorged, it’s actually a relief to be able to give from herself and feed her baby.  That’s the energy that Gate 55 brings when you’re feeling great --it’s almost a relief to be able to share it with others-- because it has swelled up so much inside you that it feels good to let that pour into someone you love.  I do not personally have Gate 55 defined in my chart, but I do have its partner (Gate 39) defined in my Unconscious Venus.  The lower vibration/shadow of Gate 39 is to be a people pleaser, so I have found myself many times throughout my life trying to give from an empty (or nearly empty) cup.

This leaves me feeling awestruck by the ability of Gate 55 (and probably why I’m drawn to it in others) to be so full of happiness, joy and delight that it actually feels like a relief to let it pour out of you.  What an actual gift you bring to the world! Letting the JOY flow out of you for the rest of us!  If you have Gate 55 defined in your chart, here is the thing that you also might be aware of; because you have this massive capacity for happiness, you also can also have the capacity for sadness, lack, or even despair.

The trick to navigating Gate 55 is knowing all emotions are ok!  When you are feeling joyful and high on life… max it out. Share with the rest of us, enjoy and delight in it.  And, when you’re feeling the other end of the spectrum --sadness or despair-- know that those are there for contrast. The depth of sadness you feel sometimes is also the thing that allows you to feel the height of happiness at other times.

Finally, remember that all emotions are temporary and the more you can allow yourself to flow through them without self-judgment, the more mastery you’ll have over the true gift that is Gate 55; spreading the vibration of joy to the rest of us.
