Generators | Being Joyful in July

Alright, my Generator loves it’s your turn– we would be nothing and nowhere without you.  Quite literally, I’m not kidding. On the road trip of life, we’d never leave the driveway without you in the car.  Often, in my life, I see generators doing so much to move households, companies, industries and organizations forward, that it can be easy to lose themselves in the momentum they’re integral in propelling forward. This is why I feel as though the word joy embodies so much of what you can lean into this month.  Joy, in my reflections of the word, feels like the energy of receiving.  Receiving moments of bliss throughout your day.  Perhaps it looks like having the best cup of coffee in the morning while you look out your front window and take a moment for yourself.  Perhaps it looks like dipping your toes in the river/lake/ocean and pausing to feel the water flow between your toes. Perhaps its having dinner al fresco with friends and having your belly ache from laughing so hard.

You deserve this, Generator.  Let yourself receive these little gifts from the Universe that say, “thank you” for all your do and even in those moments where it feels like your efforts go unnoticed, you are seen!

I’ll leave you with this, there is a scene from Field of Dreams (1989) where James Earl Jones’ character walks into the corn fields and he has this fantastic chuckle.  It comes from deep within his belly (cough, Sacral, cough) and, to me, it's the sound of joy in its purest form.  The essence of that deep chuckle is my wish for you this July, Generators.  May you be present to receive all those delightful moments as they come to you this month.

July Reflection Questions for Generators:

  • What does joy feel like in my body?

  • Do I allow myself to receive joy? Why or why not?

  • How can I facilitate more moments of joy in my life on a daily basis?

  • What does being “present” have to do with making space for joy in my life?
